More than a mirror, a piece of Art.
After nearly a decade of development and a significant encounter, Lise Braun, french gallery owner and contemporary design expert, is pleased to announce the official launch of LIBRA, a new Art and Design house dedicated to the creation of artistic mirrors. Inspired by museums in New Orleans and a pursuit of philosophical equilibrium, LIBRA situates itself at the intersection of exceptional craftsmanship and contemporary innovation.
A Fruitful Alliance: Ancestral Know-How and Modern Vision. The concept of LIBRA, inspired by the mirrored backgrounds of Adam Pendleton’s 2016 exhibition, emerged from the collaboration between Lise Braun and Massimo Borgna, CEO of the Italian firm Antique Mirror, a global leader in the production of decorative mirror panels, celebrated for its traditional craftsmanship (hand-painted and silvered) catering to the luxury, architecture, and decoration sectors worldwide.
Lise Braun elucidates the rationale behind the name: “LIBRA signifies balance; it is the Latin term for my astrological sign, Libra. Additionally, it serves as an acronym for LIse BRAun. My life philosophy centers on the equilibrium of elements and a sense of proportion.”
Narrative Mirrors’ Collection:an ancestral technique of mirrors reinterpreted by contemporary artists, combining heritage and modernity using mixed techniques.
The Founding Collection: Height Mirrors, Five Artists. Following a series of rigorous technical evaluations that yielded numerous prototypes, the inaugural LIBRA collection is now complete. It features height mirror-artworks, wall sculptures, created by five esteemed contemporary artists: Michel Cornu, Denis Santelli, Isabelle Gougenheim, Philippe Bucher and Monsieur Z.
Each piece is crafted to surpass mere reflective function, encapsulating the brand's philosophy:
"More than a mirror, a piece of Art. "
